Taking Charge
of Your Life with Kegel Exercise
Devices.
Kegel Exercise
is a physical
activity undertaken by men and women who wish to improve
the tone and elasticity of the muscles found in the
pelvic floor. It is called Kegel after the famed
gynecologist, Dr Arnold Kegel who also developed the
Kegel perineometer used to measure vaginal air
pressure.
What Is A Kegel
Exercise Device?
Kegel exercises
aim to improve muscle tone in the pelvic floor by
strengthening them through squeezing and contracting
movements. These exercises are prescribed for women in
preparation for the later stages of pregnancy and
childbirth.
Undertaking
such exercises can help them deal with the physiological
stress that comes with their condition.
In women, Kegel exercises are believed
to resolve vaginal prolapse and avert uterine prolapse
which may result in urine
incontinence.
Men
suffering from BPH or benign prostate hyperplasia, may be
relieved of the pain caused by the swelling of the
prostates with Kegel exercises. Urine incontinence in men
may also be checked by such exercises. Many of those
undergoing this physical activity find sexual
gratification during the exercise and have been known to
improve their sexual lives as well.
The 3 Forms
Of Kegel Exercise Devises
Kegel exercises
involve using some devices to achieve its purpose
successfully. These products are also known as Kegel
exercisers. Traditionally, they come in three forms –
barbells, springs and rubber bulbs.
The barbells
also known as vaginal barbells are cylindrical with a
rounded edge at both ends. The material used for these
barbells is usually finely polished stainless steel which
can easily be cleaned by wiping with a cloth dampened
with soap and water. They weigh around 450 grams and can
be as long as 6 ¾” and 2 ½” wide at one
end.
Plastic is used in
spring devices. Removal springs allow increasing
resistance. Rubber bulbs are outfitted with a gauge that
shows how much pressure is being applied during the
exercise. More modern designs of Kegel exercise devices
may be viewed from websites of known makers of these
products. Some are in the form of vaginal weights, pelvic
locator and a Kegel device known as Kegel Dynamics. This
comes with a curvy design ergonomically shaped to fit the
contour of a woman’s body and assures virginal tightness,
prevents incontinence and improves sexual health in just
3-minute sessions a day.
Who Can Benefit From A kegel Exercise
Device?
Many patients have
benefitted from Kegel exercisers. Women whose pelvic
floor muscles have weakened during pregnancy, childbirth
or caesarian section have been found to have achieved
improved muscle tones through the use of these devices.
Being overweight and increasing age may also be a cause
of uterine or vaginal prolapse which may lead to urinary
incontinence. This type of incontinence may be addressed
by the use of Kegel exercisers.
Men suffering from
premature ejaculation or penile erectile dysfunction have
also been found to have resolved their conditions through
the application of a Kegel exerciser device such as the
prostate massager.
There are a variety of Kegel exercise
devices available in the market today. Purchasing such
items over the counter may not be a welcome idea for some
who are self-conscious about their condition. The
internet offers them the option to avail of these
products
discretely.
