Adult Rubber Pants
Rubber pants have been used since
almost half a century ago. They were then used by babies who
needed to stay dry during long travels away from home.
It was an alternative to the
tedious cloth-diaper washing. It enabled mothers to multi-task
while baby stayed dry and calm, not needing too much diaper
changing within the day. The material rubber was the
universally accepted waterproofing material during those days
hence these waterproof panties were called rubber pants.
Today rubber pants are no longer confined to
baby’s use. Incontinent people also wear adult rubber pants
to prevent leakage. They are still made of rubber and latex
but of an improved quality than the ones used in the 50’s.
The rubber material makes a snug fit over the diapers. This
makes it a perfect undergarment for those suffering from
incontinence but still would like to go on with their daily
lives despite their conditions. The more mobile an
incontinent person is, the higher the possibility for
leakage.
Todays Adult
Rubber Pants
There are a variety of adult rubber pants to
choose from. They come in different sizes, styles and
designs. Below is a description of some of the styles
available on the market today:
-
Vintage 50’s old fashion rubber
pants – these are rubber pants that are reflective
of the “bloomers” look of the 50’s, crimped at the
waist and legs, with elastic waist and leg bands for
that perfect fit. The look is nostalgic and very
feminine. They are available in small, medium, large
and extra large sizes. They are made of heavy rubber
material so they do not fit as snuggly as those made
of lighter materials. There is also a lighter
transparent version of the same style as well. The
lighter version fits better.
-
Semi-transparent latex pants - are
made of very light, thin, see-through latex
materials that stretch to fit snuggly to the female
form. It is one of the most popular styles of adult
rubber pants today as it is discreet, light and
comfortable. They come in small, medium, large and
extra large sizes.
Adult rubber pants are designed to be worn
over panties or diapers to prevent leakage. They do not act
as absorbents. They are best used by incontinent people who
follow an active lifestyle.
Incontinent products may be used as a single
garment to absorb wetness and protect a person from leakage.
Depending on the severity of the incontinence, a combination
of two or more of these products may be used for added
protection. A patient may have an underpad laid on the bed
to keep the mattress from soaking, and wear adult disposable
diaper when going to bed. Some incontinent patients wear
adult diapers only when they sleep.
